For a sustainable future

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to thank you for your trust in what has been an unprecedented year, to wish you and your loved ones the best for 2021, and to reaffirm our commitment to delivering long-term sustainable returns in support of your investment objectives.

2020 will leave long lasting wounds for society. Our thoughts go to the families who suffered personal loss, to those who have lost their jobs or seen their businesses crumble, to those who are alone. We have all witnessed the high social cost of the crisis, especially for young generations.

Despite the demanding circumstances in both our professional and personal lives, I am proud of my teams’ permanent pursuit of excellence as well as their dedication.

While 2020 has been a challenging year for all, we at BNP Paribas Asset Management continued to invest in both the people and technology to bring further enhancements to investment products and processes, all the while keeping your interests at the heart of our decision-making.

Sustainable investing across all our capabilities

Our priority is continued enhancement of our research and investment processes, with the goal to improve the risk-adjusted returns of all our portfolios. We are very pleased to see our investment platform evolving in anticipation of new market demand and delivering solid performance across a diverse product suite, ranging from high conviction active strategies, private debt, emerging markets through to multi assets and liquidity solutions. Consistent with our dedication to sustainable investing, we are proud to highlight that our industry-leading ESG investing framework has been fully integrated into our range of our investment capabilities.

Sharing our thoughts to navigate uncertain times

We thrive in broadening the experience we offer all our clients. This past year saw the enhancement of our reporting capability, improving performance report quality and timeliness, as well as the debut of embedded ESG performance indicators. We also enhanced our research and thought leadership efforts with the launch of our Great Instability series, bringing you the full weight of our intellectual capital.

Putting you first

Of course, we do not act in isolation. Your feedback guides our relentless efforts to improve our services, and I want to extend my sincere thanks to all who participated in the 2020 Greenwich studies. These insights have already been put into play and sit very much at the core of our 2021 strategic plans.

Seizing opportunities in a changing world

We are the asset manager for a changing world. While the pandemic’s end is finally on the horizon, we remain conscious that the world will continue to feel its effects long after the vaccine’s distribution, as health, economic and climate crises are set to continue. The instability provoked by the pandemic presents a window of opportunity and a common duty to pivot in a new direction. Long-term environmental viability, energy transition and inclusive growth are essential pre-conditions to a sustainable recovery. By taking a holistic, systemic, long-term view, we are less likely to be surprised by crises and better able to manage them. For more detail, I invite you to review our 2021 Investment Outlook at your convenience.

Thank you for your constant trust in our organisation. We are proud of our shared accomplishments in 2020, but there is still much work yet to do, and we have set ambitious plans for the year ahead. I look forward to our continued partnership and to seeing you in 2021.

With kind regards and best wishes for your continued health, safety and success.
