BNP Paribas Asset Management was awarded 1st and 3rd place in the pension savings funds category.
The De Tijd & L’Echo financial newspapers have published their annual performance rankings for funds in the Belgian market. This year, the 2019 Fund Awards ceremony was held in Brussels on 12 March. Two BNP Paribas Asset Management funds were awarded 1st and 3rd place on the pension savings funds category podium.
For the past few years, pension savings funds managed by BNP Paribas Asset Management Belgium have persistently demonstrated that they feature among the best in the Belgian market, as recognised by the pension savings funds category awards.
Fund awards target long term investment returns, reviewing 5-year track records, along with performance regularity. In other terms, investment strategies must be efficient year-in year-out. The methodology used to determine the results included 2016 and 2018, which were both challenging years, in calculating the performances delivered by BNP Paribas Asset Management pension funds. However, 2018 weighed less this year compared to our competitors, which accounts for our first place in the rankings.
BNPP AM pension fund portfolio manager Bart Van Poucke said “the excellent returns delivered by our pension funds over the past 5 years are partly attributable to the coherent long term view maintained among our profitable core holdings and also due to judicious stock picking among underlying equities. Our pension funds are managed on a team basis. As lead manager of the pension funds, I oversee the allocations selected by the team among the authorised asset classes. Weightings are reviewed weekly and adjusted when necessary, as a function of the macroeconomic, geopolitical and monetary context.”
The pension fund investment team also draws on the specific skills of other BNP Paribas Asset Management investment teams in selecting equities and bonds to be included in our portfolios. This symbiotic approach provides a clear framework delivering final results which exceed the sum of the parts.
